Produce The Movie of Your Life
DeVon Franklin is no ordinary Hollywood executive. In just fifteen years, DeVon climbed the ladder from being an intern at Will Smith’s production company to Vice President at Columbia Pictures. He’s helped produce hit films like The Pursuit of Happyness, Jumping The Broom, and the remake of The Karate Kid.
Still, DeVon's greatest accomplishment is the way he unapologetically puts his faith above all—even work. Raised a Seventh-day Adventist, DeVon found solace in the church at age 9 after his father died suddenly of a heart attack. He gave his first sermon at age fifteen and continues preaching today. DeVon says he's living his destiny as the star of his own movie in life and says staying true to his beliefs has opened more doors than he could have imagined.
DeVon says we can all be the stars of our own movies, with God as our director. It's an idea he talks about in his book, Produced by Faith, which he calls a "roadmap for success" to help others find purpose. Watch parts of Oprah and DeVon's conversation to find out his advice on starring in the movie of your life—and achieving success without losing yourself.
First, find out how to develop the movie of your life above.
