An estimated 30,000 people turned out for the 8th Annual AfroPunk Fest.
The two-day festival, which took place in Commodore Barry Park, is touted as "the other black experience" and celebrates a wide range of music to punk, hip hop, rap, pop, reggae, and indie rock.
AfroPunk is as a free space for African Americans and anyone else who wants to come onto that space to just be who they are, and not being defined by monolithic definition of what, sort of, the outside culture puts on us as African American people. It displays cultures and people coming together as one. Jada Pinkett performed with her rock band Wicked Wisdom. Individual style reigns supreme with bold and beautiful folks everywhere you turn.
