Born Andra Batie and raised in San Diego, she grew up singing contemporary Christian music in church as well as studying at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. She was performing in local nightclubs when none other than Stevie Wonder discovered her. Obsessed with jazz, soul and rock, the 30-year-old Warner Brother Records signee brings classically trained vocals to create a modern, yet vintage and powerful sound.
Andra Day's debut album, Cheers to the Fall, will be released Aug. 28 and I'm so excited for this.
