The 6th Annual WEEN Awards Honors Trailblazing Women

The 6th Annual WEEN (Women In Entertainment Empowerment Network) Awards passed recently and looked like a ball. The event, held in New York City, is an awards show dedicated to honoring women who are leaders in entertainment, social justice, and entrepreneurship.

Women honored were Yara Shahidi, Dia Simms, Music Executive Ethiopia Habtemariam, Sandra Bland’s mother and activist Geneva Reed-Veal, Meagan Good, Lil’ Kim, Teyana Taylor, and Teen Vogue EIC Elaine Welteroth were hand-picked for their commitment to empowering women, and for having overcome adversity to thrive in their respective fields. It's so empowering to see young women living out their dreams in their dream careers. Some of the attendees and presenters include: activist Tamika Mallory, television personality Sabrina Thompson, fashion expert June Ambrose, Apple executive Bozoma Saint John, music mogul Kevin Liles, radio personalities Angela Yee and Angie Martinez. The night was full of empowerment and a strong sisterhood created to mentor young women in entertainment and media.
