Meet rising crooner Ro James it’s safe to say, he makes his own rules.
Ro James creates music that speaks of his life's journey. In 2013, he self-released Coke, Jack, and Cadillacs, three four-song EPs that fused a range of sounds—including soul, R&B, and hip-hop—with vulnerable yet decisive lyricism. ELDORADO his debut album released last year presented a more confident artist, one who feels he has found his voice and developed his sound.
"Before, when I was Coke, Jack, and Cadillacs, I was drinking Jack Daniels everyday, partying, smoking, doing crazy shit," he explains. "Now I'm a more mature, a little bit more refined." -Ro James
For nine weeks, his hit single Permission was number one on Billboard’s Urban Adult Contemporary chart, reviving what many R&B fans would consider a lost genre. His sound is butter and with his XIX Tour kicking off he's only spreading the love. The 20+ city tour starts February 3 in Portland. After touring, James plans to work on a new EP and another full-length, try his hand at acting, collaborate with other artists, and even create a clothing line.
