The NAACP Image Awards returned to our screens to honor Black excellence in media and culture.
In this year’s virtual-format live show, actor Anthony Anderson hosted the event as he passed the mic to presenters including Alicia Keys, Misty Copeland, and Samuel L. Jackson. From the Black-owned Eso Won Books in Los Angeles to Morehouse College in Atlanta, viewers took a tour of legendary landmarks in Black history as presenters were filmed announcing winners from those locations.
In its first show since the nation’s reckoning with racial inequality spurred by the killing of George Floyd and the ensuing rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, the ceremony was especially meaningful as it highlighted many of the triumphs achieved by the Black community in the last year.
Above are a few of my favorite looks of the night. Even though virtual the ladies came out to slay with the fashions. This is the time where you can go all the way out and show your creativity from home.
